The website Refinery29 recently published an article titled “Apparently, Llamas Are the New Unicorns,” pointing to data from Pinterest showing that interest in llama-themed items and food, such as home decor, cakes and cookies, has dramatically increased. Given that the campaign surrounding Fall Out Boy’s new album, M A N I A, has been centered around two life-sized, anthropomorphic llama puppets, the band is more than happy to take credit for the spike in llama interest.
On their Twitter, Fall Out Boy posted a link to the Refinery29 article and wrote, “It’s called trend setting sweetie, look it up.”
Whether or not Fall Out Boy is truly responsible for llama fever, everyone can probably agree that the band should bring back the llamas for their U.S. tour later this year, which kicks off in August.
