Scott Harrison/Getty ImagesNow that the Smashing Pumpkins are back together — for the most part, anyway — Billy Corgan is apparently looking into the reformation of another one of his projects: Zwan.
During a Q&A on his Instagram Story, Corgan was asked about the status of Zwan, the short-lived band that also featured Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. In response, Corgan wrote that he’s “discussing a reissue and a tour with JC and I and some friends.”
Zwan was active between 2001 and 2003, and released one album: 2003’s Mary Star of the Sea. The band also included former A Perfect Circle bassist Paz Lenchantin, as well as guitarists Matt Sweeney and David Pajo.
As for who those “friends” might be on a potential Zwan tour, that remains unclear, especially given the not-so friendly nature of the band’s break-up. In a 2005, Corgan said, “You’ll never see Zwan,” adding, “I’ll never go anywhere near those people…I detest them.”
Then again, Chamberlin and James Iha are back in the Smashing Pumpkins, so anything’s possible.
The Pumpkins are currently touring the U.S. in celebration of their 30th anniversary.
