ABC/Paula LoboBlink-182 has a new song with The Chainsmokers in the works.
The hit-making DJ duo announced the news in a tweet Wednesday night, writing that they “just did a session with blink182 and wrote an amazing song.” “We can die happy now,” they added.
Blink bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus then confirmed the collaborating, tweeting, “It’s true.”
While some fans were supportive, many were crying “say it ain’t so.”
Explaining why Blink wanted to collaborate with The Chainsmokers, Hoppus wrote, “We’ve been friends with them for a few years and have tried to collaborate a bunch of different times, but today our schedules aligned and we were all in the same room at the same time.”
If you’ve heard The Chainsmokers’ inescapable 2016 hit “Closer,” then you know they’re big Blink-182 fans. On the song, featured vocalist Halsey sings, “Stay and play that Blink-182 song/That we beat to death in Tucson.”
There’s no word yet on when we’ll get to hear the Chain-182 song — perhaps it’ll be featured on Blink’s next album, the follow-up to 2016’s California.
