As part of their Grand Marshal duties, the ’80s metallers will give the “Drivers, start your engines” command to kick off the race.
“Growing up, we were race car fans and dreamed of fast cars, so to be included in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event is wild!” says drummer Tommy Lee.
Joining the Crue on the racetrack will be two stars from the band’s upcoming biopic The Dirt: rapper Machine Gun Kelly, who plays Lee, and Douglas Booth, who plays bassist Nikki Sixx. Kelly is also featured on a new Motley Crue song “The Dirt (Est. 1981),” which they recorded for the film.
The Dirt, based on the band’s 2001 autobiography of the same name, premieres on Netflix March 22. The cast also includes The Punisher‘s Daniel Webber as vocalist Vince Neil and Game of Thrones‘ Iwan Rheon as guitarist Mick Mars.
