Nickelback bassist wants to record a metal album

ABC/Tim OgierNickelback‘s sound has always lived on the harder side of rock, but the Canadian band has never really gone full metal. However, bassist Mike Kroeger would like to see that change.

Speaking with Australia’s Wall of Sound, Kroeger says he’d “love” for Nickelback to record a metal album.

“Metal is what makes me go, it’s what I listen to without fail,” Kroeger explains. “If we could actually sink in and do a metal album, all four of us would love it. I know that we’re all — on differing scales — metalheads at our core.”

“I would do a Slayer cover album if I could,” he adds. “That’s where my heart lies.”

As for whether that could actually happen, Kroeger says, “There are just never enough hours in the day to do everything, but let’s just say I wouldn’t count it out.”

Nickelback’s most recent album is 2017’s Feed the Machine.
