System of a Down’s Daron Malakian premieres creepy video for Scars on Broadway song “Guns Are Loaded”

“The skulls and devils are symbols for parts of us within,” Malakian tells Rolling Stone of the video’s visuals. “When you’re to the point when life is coming down around you, sometimes a darker side, a darker feeling or darker thoughts come out of us. When we are afraid, frustrated or angry, that side may show itself.”

“The guns also symbolize something too,” he continues. “The song isn’t necessarily about actual guns, but they represent the desperation of a moment.”

“Guns Are Loaded” appears on the new Scars of Broadway album Dictator, which was released last summer. Malakian will be taking the project on the road for a spring tour starting March 3 in San Diego.

System of a Down, meanwhile, will be playing the Sonic Temple and Chicago Open Air festivals in May.
