Mastodon begins “sifting through ideas” for next album: “We’re constantly creating”

Troy Sanders of Mastodon; Ethan Miller/Getty ImagesThe creative process for Mastodon‘s next album has begun, according to bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders.

“We’ve been in Atlanta sifting through ideas,” Sanders tells Kerrang! “We’re always moving forward.”

Those ideas, Sanders explains, were born from a variety of places, including the road.

“We’re constantly creating,” he says. “When we’re out on tour, we’re always coming up with lyrics, riffs or half-songs on voice notes and the Pro Tools rig we take out with us.”

The new album, expected to arrive in 2020, will follow Mastodon’s 2017 effort, Emperor of Sand.
