Sevendust’s Lajon Witherspoon joins Daughtry for collaborative “Hunger Strike” cover

Dogtree Records

Lajon Witherspoon has linked up with Daughtry for a collaborative cover of the Temple of the Dog classic “Hunger Strike.”

The rendition stays pretty true to the original grunge standard, with the Sevendust frontman playing the part of the growling Eddie Vedder and the former American Idol contestant going high to take on Chris Cornell‘s vocals.

You can listen to the joint cover now via digital outlets.

If you’re curious to know what Witherspoon would sound like singing Cornell’s part, Sevendust’s new album Blood & Stone includes a cover of Soundgarden‘s “The Day I Tried to Live.”

Meanwhile, Daughtry has been climbing rock radio with his single “Heavy Is the Crown.”
