Bruce Springsteen’s newly announced 2026 Land of Hope and Dreams U.S. tour drew an unusually direct response from the White House this week.
In a statement circulated among reporters, White House communications director Steven Cheung went after Springsteen personally, calling him a loser and accusing him of Trump Derangement Syndrome. The statement also threaded in references to Springsteen song titles, turning the reply into a pointed riff on his catalog.
Springsteen had presented the tour as more than a series of concerts. From the stage, he framed it as a message of support for American democratic values and constitutional freedoms, tying the shows to broader civic themes he has returned to for decades.
The schedule runs from late March through late May, with dates starting in Minneapolis and ending in Washington, D.C. The exchange adds fresh heat to a long-running tension between Springsteen’s public political comments and the political world’s reaction to them.
